Corona Virus Update

Copy of Copy of Copy of Redeemer - LIFE_interrupted (2)

Dear Church Family,

Over the last several weeks, Church Leadership has been prayerfully considering how and when we will resume in-person worship in all of our worshiping communities at FUMC Pearland/Redeemer Church. In an effort to continue living out our mission as a church and care for those God has entrusted us, we have prayerfully put together a three phase plan for the future.

We know there are many of you that are eager and excited about returning to the church campus and resuming in person worship. We also know there are many of you that aren’t quite ready yet, and may not be for some time.  Our goal is to ensure that when we return to in-person worship we are able to provide a safe environment that adheres to CDC guidelines, state guidelines, and also honors the special and sacred reasons for which we gather.  In addition, we want to ensure that we can continue to provide a quality livestream experience for those not yet ready to return. We believe that this three phase plan will give us adequate time to prepare our space, train volunteers, procure necessary equipment and increase sanitary conditions.

The following is our initial plan to phase back into in-person worship at FUMC Pearland/Redeemer Church. This plan is fluid and is subject to change based on new information. We continue to work at keeping you informed and up to date with information about the impact of this pandemic on gathered worship on campus.  Any changes that may happen will be communicated via email, the Website and Facebook.

We are asking God to reveal new ways that we might serve one another and grow together in unprecedented times. Please join us as we pray that we may continue to be a church that follows Jesus, leads others to Jesus and changes the world.

Updated 03.16.20
Dear Church Family,
Thank you to everyone that participated in Online Worship this week! We estimate that over 900 people tuned in to worship in one (or more) of our 3 online worship services! God is good! We have addressed some technical issues and believe this coming Sunday will go even more smoothly than last week.
The Church Leadership continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation in our community and in our nation. This afternoon, President Trump made the recommendation for everyone to avoid social gatherings or groups of more than 10 people. We value the health and well being of each and every member of our community and are taking this recommendation seriously.
This morning, we made the tough decision to halt all ministry events and gatherings scheduled to take place at FUMC Pearland and Redeemer Church in the month of March.  We are also evaluating events planned for April. We will continue to worship online on Sunday mornings for the foreseeable future until it is safe to gather together in person once again.
We want to inform you of some of the events that have been postponed or cancelled:
MOPS Daddy Daughter Dance (Pearland Campus) - Postponed (new date tbd)
Scouts Pancake Supper (Pearland Campus) - Postponed - (new date tbd)
FUMC Pearland/Redeemer Golf Classic - Postponed - (new date tbd)
BeastFeast (Redeemer Campus) - Cancelled
Small Groups, Sunday School and Bible Studies - We are working at providing you with resources and options to meet as a group digitally. We hope to get this information and instructions out to Sunday School teachers, small group leaders, and bible study leaders soon.
We know how vital a faith based community is, especially in times of uncertainty, anxiety and fear. We plan to increase our digital ministry during this time to help us stay connected and maintain our sense of community. Be sure to follow FUMC Pearland and/or Redeemer Church on Facebook for updates.
Our Prayer and Care teams are mobilizing to reach out to our congregation and assess needs and prayer concerns, and mobilize response teams if needed. If you would like to be a part of this team or if you or someone you know is in need of prayer please reach out to Rev. Barbara Fyffe or Rev. Thea Curry-Fuson.
As we mentioned on Sunday, now more than ever we greatly appreciate your generosity and financial support of our ministries and mission to follow Jesus, lead others to Jesus and change the world. If you usually give in the offering plate on Sunday morning, we encourage you to take this opportunity to set up automated regular giving through our website at fumcpearland.org/give or you can mail gifts to the church office at 2314 N Grand Blvd Pearland, TX 77581.
Let's pray for each other in these days ahead, that in those moments of fear we would all turn to our Heavenly Father in faith. Let's believe what we say we believe: Jesus changes everything.
God's grace and peace!

Dear Church Family,
After much discussion and prayerful consideration, in an effort to encourage social distancing and slow the spread of COVID-19 Church Leadership at FUMC Pearland/Redeemer Church have made the difficult decision to move to ONLINE ONLY services this Sunday, March 15th. There will be no Sunday morning activities held on either campus.  We invite and encourage you to participate in worship from the comfort of your home. Services will include a time of worship, a children’s moment, some resource sharing, biblical teaching and words of encouragement..
Due to the dynamic nature of the situation we will continue to monitor and make decisions in the coming week about how we plan to move forward.  We encourage you to follow us on our Facebook page and check the website for updates. We will also continue to send e-mail reminders as decisions are made. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.
How do I participate?
We will provide a Digital Worship Experience for each of our worshiping communities.
Traditional Worship: 9am
Redeemer Worship: 10am
Celebration Worship: 11am
We are still in the process of finalizing our Digital Worship platform. The instructions on how to participate in worship Sunday morning will be sent at a later time.
How do I give?
For many, giving of tithes and offerings is an act of worship. FUMC Pearland/ Redeemer Church continues to impact our local and global community because of this faithful act. We invite and encourage you to continue to support the mission and ministry of FUMC Pearland/ Redeemer Church in one of the following ways:
What if I need support?
Our Prayer and Care teams and Stephens Ministers will continue to provide high quality, confidential, Christ-centered care and support to people in need. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please reach out to Rev. Barbara Fyffe or Rev. Thea Curry-Fuson.
At FUMC Pearland/Redeemer Church we believe that Jesus changes everything. Again, we remind you that God has not called us to live in fear but in faith. As the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Our prayer is that God will fill all of us with these three gifts, no matter what comes our way. We continue to look to Christ as a reason for hope in times of uncertainty. Please join us as we continue to pray for our church, our community, our nation and our world.
In Christ,
Pastor Keith Whitaker and Pastor David Goran

03.12.20

Dear Church Family,

We want to inform you on what’s happening at FUMC Pearland in light of the coronavirus

(COVID-19) outbreak in our area. Recently Church leadership met and discussed how we as a church best move forward. Please understand this is an ongoing and dynamic situation and we suspect things could change rapidly. Our plan is to keep an open line of communication as we navigate our response in the coming days.

Please read through this entire email as it contains detailed plans for keeping our campus safe, and how you can help.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to cancel all activities with the exception of Sunday worship at both FUMC Pearland and Redeemer Church until March 22nd. The church office will be closed during this time.  MCP and Redeemer MCP will both be closed the week of March 16-20 in alignment with Pearland ISD and Alvin ISD.

At this time, we are planning to have services on Sunday morning.  In the event that local and state health officials do recommend closure or we determine it is in the best interest of FUMC Pearland family to cancel Sunday services, we will inform everyone to the best of our abilities through our website, emails, and social media.

During this time, here’s how we are committed to keeping our campus clean:

  • We have implemented enhanced cleaning protocol for our after hours cleaning staff, including sanitizing common areas (doors, handles, bathrooms, commonly touched surfaces) with a hospital grade disinfectant.
  • Volunteers and staff in the classroom will clean and sanitize all surfaces and toys inside of classrooms between services.
  • We will provide additional hand sanitizer stations around campus for everyone to use.
  • We are asking our volunteers and staff to minimize contact including hand shakes and hugs. We will suspend the “Meet and Greet” moment in the traditional services until further notice.
  • Volunteers will be stationed to serve you coffee to prevent spread of germs and minimize risk of exposure.
  • Volunteers or staff will be stationed at all kids check in stations to check in your kids for you.
  • Offering baskets will be relocated within each worship area so you don’t need to pass them down the row. Remember, you can also give online
  • At this time communion will be suspended until we are certain it can be offered safely.

During this time, we are asking you to help stop the spread of the virus in the following ways:

  • Stay at home when you or a family member are sick.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Cover your sneeze or cough with a tissue or your arm.
  • Get in the habit of NOT touching your face so often.
  • Forgo shaking hands at church for a wave, elbow bump or a friendly smile.
  • If you or someone you know tests positive for COVID-19, please let us know so we can find a way to help, pray for everyone involved and take any necessary precautions here at FUMC Pearland/Redeemer Church.
  • Please use your best discretion on whether to attend Sunday morning services. If you or your family members are in a high risk category for complications from COVID-19 we encourage you to stay home and participate in worship online.

Church Online:

If you or a family member are sick or need to stay home during this time, we are working on a way to watch Sunday services online. As soon as details on this are available we will let you know.

Questions or concerns?

If you’d like to share your thoughts, concerns, questions, and ideas with us as we navigate our response to this situation, we’d love to hear from you. Your input and feedback are truly important to us. Please email Mary Lee Stagner with any questions or comments.

While we cannot control the virus, the spread or the impact it has in our church, we’re doing everything we can to make this campus as safe and clean as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to help us do just that.

We must also remember that God has not called us to live in fear but in faith. As the apostle, Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind..” Our prayer is that God will fill all of us with these three gifts, no matter what comes our way.
